Faculty Council & Part-Time Faculty Committee

Faculty Governance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is the exercise of the authority of the Faculty including management of the curriculum. Faculty Governance is led by the Faculty Council which is comprised of one elected voting member from each academic unit and a number of ex-officio members. The Faculty Council is a policy making and consultative body, responsible for the quality of instruction and scholarship at the University as outlined by the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina.

The Faculty Council has a Part-Time Faculty Committee (PTFC). The function of the PTFC shall be to consult and advise university leadership on policies, processes and practices, as well as the enforcement of same, pertaining to the welfare of part-time faculty as it is related to the workplace environment that can affect recruiting, retention, professional development and morale of faculty. These issues could include, but are not be limited to, part-time faculty workload policies, employment status, working environment, support, continuity, and productivity.
