You’ve Been Hired – Now What?

Congratulations! You have completed all the necessary hiring paperwork and actions, received your letter of appointment and your graduate faculty status notification (if applicable), and now have access to your UNC Charlotte account. What happens next?

UNC Charlotte’s Adjunct Faculty website at adjunct.charlotte.edu provides an overview of the information you need to know before you start. Review the points below for a summary of what you need to prepare as you begin your position.

Checklist Before Your First Day of Work

  • Sign a Adjunct/Part Time Faculty employment contract from the hiring department via DocuSign
  • Visit Human Resources for an in-person appointment to complete your I-9 form
  • Forward your I-9 letter to the hiring department Set up and access your UNC Charlotte account and email after receiving an email from the UNC Charlotte IT Department

UNC Charlotte Account Setup

When you are initially hired by UNC Charlotte, you will receive an email containing instructions on how to activate your UNC Charlotte account (also known as your “NinerNET”).

 Your account provides you with many uses, including:

  • A UNC Charlotte email address through Gmail
  • Access to build a Canvas page and view your course roster
  • Access to free software available to employees
  • Your UNC Charlotte ID card
  • More

To activate your account, follow these steps:

  1. In your welcome letter, make note of your UNC Charlotte username.
  2. Visit the NinerNET website
  3. Select Activate Account under New Users.
  4. Enter your NinerNET username and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

Direct Deposit

All UNC Charlotte employees are required to set up direct deposit to receive their pay. You will need to login to My UNC Charlotte and select Banner Self-Service to enroll. Follow the instructions listed on the Direct Deposit page to enroll.

Add the Payroll Calendar to Google Calendar to see your pay dates.

Adjunct Faculty Orientation

Adjunct faculty are encouraged to review the university’s orientation via Canvas. This orientation gives you an overview of university policies, guidelines, and resources. 

To access the orientation, please log in to Canvas and log in with your NinerNET credentials. This is the same username and password combination you use to check email or access My UNC Charlotte.  Once you have logged into Canvas, look to the left side of the screen under “Courses” and select: “Training – Adjunct Faculty Orientation.”
