How To Apply as a Part-Time Faculty Member (Adjunct)
This document outlines the steps and requirements for applying as a Part-Time Faculty Member (Adjunct).
1. The Online Application Process
1. Start the Application: Go to jobs.charlotte.edu.
2. Create an Account: Click on Create Account on the left navigation panel of the site.
3. Search for Postings: Once your account is created, search for postings under the category Temporary Faculty/Post docs
4. Apply: Select Apply to this Job on the desired posting and follow the guided application process.
Application Dos and Dont’s
● DO use our online application system: All positions require the completion of an electronic faculty/staff profile through our online application system.
● DO complete the application fully (including first, middle, and last name) and ensure all relevant work experiences are included. Incomplete applications may not receive full consideration.
● DO create your profile/electronic application only once. You will use your profile to apply for any and all vacancies of interest, and you can edit and modify your application as changes occur.
● DO NOT type “See Resume” in the application. You may attach documents such as a cover letter, resume, and references as a supplement to the required application or profile.
2. Application Review and Status
If you meet the training and experience requirements, your application will be submitted to the hiring supervisor for review. You can review the status of your application in the Your Applications section of the applicant site. The hiring department will mark the most qualified candidate as “Recommend For Hire.”
3. Background Check
After your application is submitted, you will undergo a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which is required of all applicants who are hired through the UNC Charlotte jobsite. The CBC is completed using your full legal name. Upon successful completion of the CBC, the hiring department will move forward with hiring actions.
Be prepared for the CBC email:
1. Email Initiation: Academic Affairs will initiate an email through the CBC screening vendor, Infomart, using the email address on your job application.
2. Consent Form: You will receive an electronic invitation email asking you to complete the online consent form.
3. Complete the Form: It is crucial that the CBC Application includes your middle name. If you do not have a middle name, you must type “none” in that field. The CBC is completed using your full legal name.
4. Notification: After Academic Affairs is notified of the CBC results, your hiring department will notify you via email that the CBC is complete.
4. Required Documents
1. Letters of reference/recommendation: Share these with the hiring department’s Business Services Coordinator or Department Chair. Contact the primary contact listed on the Job advertisement.
2. Official Electronic Transcript: Send the official (not issued to the student) electronic transcript of your highest degree to faculty-recruit@charlotte.edu.
3. Your CV (Curriculum Vitae) must be uploaded with your employment application in NinerTalent.
4. Sign AA-15 Part-Time Employment Contract sent to you by the hiring department.
5. Employment Eligibility Requirements (I-9 Form)
All employees must verify their eligibility to work in the United States by completing the I-9 form on or before their first day.
1. Schedule Appointment: Visit Human Resources “Before You Start” website to schedule an appointment to complete your I-9 requirement and view the new hire packet.
2. Complete In-Person: You must come to campus in-person to complete your I-9, even if you teach courses that are 100% online.
3. Forward Verification: Forward the I-9 verification email you receive from Human Resources after your appointment to the hiring department.
Note: You cannot begin work until you complete the I-9 and all other new hire paperwork required by HR. Failure to complete this action will result in your pay being cancelled.
If you teach courses that are 100% online, you are still required to come to campus in person to complete your I-9.
