Organizational Chart
As part of the UNC System, Senior Leadership at UNC Charlotte is comprised of the Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, and the Chancellor’s Cabinet. The Faculty Council, Staff Council, UNC Charlotte Alumni Board, Board of Visitors, UNC Charlotte Foundation Board and the Student Government Association are also involved in governance and decision-making. Canvas
For many instructors, Canvas is the key way that information, lessons, and quizzes are provided to their students. At UNC Charlotte, we have many resources readily available for you to learn to use, set up, or solve issues in Canvas.

Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning provides learning opportunities for instructors and faculty at UNC Charlotte. The Center provides a variety of resources on topics from online teaching to hybrid learning. Resources include:

Atkins Library
UNC Charlotte’s Atkins Library provides a wide variety of resources relevant to adjunct faculty, including:

Faculty & Advisor Self-Service
Self-Service Banner is the system used by all active faculty and staff to perform various administrative tasks and provide information to students, faculty, and staff. IN addition to things like setting up Direct Deposit and looking at Pay Stubs, the University uses Self-Service Banner for teaching-related functions, such as entering grades, viewing course information, and viewing student information for advising. Self-Service Banner is accessed by logging in to My.Charlotte.Edu.

Academic Calendar
The Academic Calendar is provided by the Registrar’s Office and will give you an overview of the academic year or semester. You will see key dates, including university holidays, listed there.
IT Help
The IT Service Desk‘s goal is to help faculty, staff, and students use the technology provided by UNC Charlotte. Support is available via phone and online. You may contact the Service Desk by:
- Calling 704-687-5500 (or 7-5500 from a campus phone)
- Using your NinerNET credentials, log in to HelpDesk Online to request assistance by submitting a ticket

Learning & Development Portal

Connect
Connect is an academic early alert and advising connect software system. It allows instructors to send systematic notifications to students regarding their academic progress in their courses referred to as flags, kudos, and referrals. Academic advisors are able to access this information to better connect with students, and use the system for maintaining advising notes. Students use the online system to conveniently make appointments with their academic advisor, instructor, and student support services such as tutoring and career advising.

University Ombuds
The University Ombuds program at UNC Charlotte is a confidential, independent, impartial, and informal resource for faculty, staff, and students (graduate and undergraduate) to informally work through challenging problems, dilemmas, and conflicts. The office adheres to the International Ombuds Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
The University Ombuds uses several interest-based techniques, such as coaching, facilitated discussions, and shuttle diplomacy, to help prevent problems from escalating and empower faculty, staff, and students to find productive, collaborative solutions to their own problems when appropriate.
Ombuds often help by providing an unbiased, non-judgmental listening ear to understand the situation, clarifying issues, by being a thought partner in exploring a full range of possible options, thinking through the pros and cons of the various choices, and helping visitors come to a decision on how they’d like to proceed. We also provide feedback on emerging or systemic concerns and recommendations for positive change to University policies and practices when appropriate.
Communications with the Ombuds Office are confidential. The only exceptions are when we believe that disclosure is necessary to address imminent risk of serious harm or if required by law. The Ombuds is not part of any formal administrative complaint procedure, and communicating with the Ombuds does not put UNC Charlotte on formal notice of a problem.

Grievance Procedures
In order to maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship between the University and its staff employees subject to the provisions of the State Human Resources Act (SHRA), the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) adheres to The University of North Carolina System (UNC) Grievance Policy to provide for the orderly settlement of problems and differences. Each supervisor and each staff member has an obligation to make every effort to resolve problems as they arise. The University encourages the resolution of grievances on an informal basis whenever possible. However, when a complaint cannot be resolved informally, the University provides for a formal review, which will seek a fair and timely solution. Use of the formal grievance procedure shall not prejudice the service or status of the staff member. Learn more about the University’s grievance procedures here.
